When the University City School District wanted to maintain the historic character of its schools with added durability, they relied on the craftsmanship of H & G to reproduce several sets of ornate wood doors in steel.

H & G demonstrated creative problem solving when it devised a six-story hollow metal framework system for an atrium in a downtown St. Louis office building instead of the heavy steel curtain wall framing called for in the original plans. The new framework was easier to handle and install, and significantly reduced cost.

Respect is evident on every H & G project and extends to everyone involved- beginning with the company's own employees.

In the ultimate show of respect, and to assure continuity as a local privately-owned company serving the St. Louis market, the founders have turned 93 percent of company ownership over to their staff. "They helped build the company," Guenther said, "They should also be stakeholders and share in the success".
